My name is Xinyuan Li. I like to describe myself as a simple Chinese girl in Canada.
Am originally from Beijing, China, and currently on my second year at Thompson Rivers University. Canada is one of my favorite countries in the world and has been a pleasure to take trips around nearby locations in British Columbia. Kamloops has particularly been my favorite getaway whenever I had the time to travel a little. At the moment (Nov. 2020) I am back in China – thanks to the ongoing Pandemic. However, I hope to be back to Canada as soon as things go back to normal.
When I am not studying I am travelling, playing video games, cooking or trying our new recipes. To be fair, I play video games and try out new recipes constantly – whether I am in school or travelling. Over the next few years I want to visit all the major attractions in all the regions in Canada. My dream travel, however, will be to the city of Venice in Italy. I have read a lot about Italy and the Mediterranean influence of the country. Venice has particularly been a dream of mine because of the interesting history and the canals that surround it. Also, it will be gone soon – submerged by the rising water levels – which makes it an interesting place to visit before it disappears. Interesting history and possible futures of places is what intrigues about them and why I am so interested in travel – both as a passion and as an industry. This is the reason why I decided to take this class – because I envision a future where I could take up tourism as a profession.
